Pricing & quotes
How much does fence staining cost in Oklahoma City?
It depends on linear footage, fence height and condition, so we do not publish one square-foot number that would be wrong for most fences. We geo-map your fence line by satellite from your address and photos and send a written quote, usually within a day.
Do I need to be home for the estimate?
No. Send two photos and your address and we measure the fence line by satellite geo-mapping. Most quotes come back within a day without anyone being home. Want us to walk the property instead? Just say the word.
Is a deposit required?
No deposit on staining jobs under $10,000 — you pay when the work is done and you are 100% satisfied. All installations require 25% down, and stain jobs of $10,000 or more also require 25% down.
Do you offer a veteran or first-responder discount?
Yes. Ask when we quote.
Is restoration really cheaper than replacement?
Substantially. Cleaning and staining a fence with sound posts is a fraction of the cost of tearing it out and building new. If your posts are failing we will say so rather than sell you a stain job on a fence that is already leaving.
Process & products
Do you pressure wash fences before staining?
No. We use soft-wash chemical cleaning exclusively. Pressure washing gouges cedar grain and leaves lap marks that show through the stain for years; soft-wash chemistry lifts gray oxidation, mildew and red clay without damaging the wood.
What stain do you use?
Expert Stain and Seal® oil-based penetrating stain. It soaks into the wood instead of forming a film on top, which is why it fades evenly rather than peeling, blistering or flaking. Ultra-low VOC, kid- and pet-friendly, no harsh chemical smell.
What is the difference between a penetrating and a film-forming stain?
A film-forming coating sits on the surface, so when it fails it cracks and peels and has to be stripped. A penetrating oil goes into the wood, so it wears rather than fails, and a restain refreshes it without stripping. There is a full comparison on the Film vs. Oil page.
Do you back-brush?
In most cases it is not necessary. The stain we use is a true penetrating oil and it is self-leveling, so it soaks into the grain and evens itself out without being worked in by hand. Some fences do need it — horizontal fences in particular — and we back-brush those. The point is the finished result, not the technique used to get there.
Do you stain decks, pergolas and siding too?
Yes — decks, pergolas, play sets, ramps and wood siding, with the same products and the same process.
Timing & weather
Do I have to wait before staining a brand-new fence?
Usually not. Our cedar is mostly kiln-dried, so there is no mandatory waiting period. We test every fence with a moisture meter: below 18% we stain, and above it we monitor the weather and stain when the wood is ready. We don’t rush to failure — we make sure it’s done right.
How often does a fence need restaining?
Typically every three to five years in the Oklahoma City metro, depending on sun and weather exposure. Full-sun runs on a south or west exposure lighten faster than shaded ones.
What is the best time of year to stain?
Spring and fall give the most reliable temperatures and lower rain frequency, but we work year-round around Oklahoma’s weather windows.
How far out are you booking?
Crews typically book two to three weeks out. If your timing matters, get the quote in early and lock the spot.
How long does a job take?
Most residential fences are cleaned one day and stained after the wood has dried, which depends on the weather. We will not stain wet wood to keep a schedule.
Color & appearance
What colors do you offer?
Auburn, Pecan, Chocolate and Natural Cedar cover most of what we stain, and the full Expert Stain and Seal® range is available. See the Stain Colors page for real chip photos.
Will the color look like the sample on my fence?
Close, but wood has a say. Older cedar absorbs more stain and reads darker than the chip; new kiln-dried cedar reads closer to it. We sample on your actual boards before staining the full run.
Can you match my HOA's approved color?
Yes. Many gated communities maintain an approved palette — we read the covenant, sample, and match before staining.
Can you fix a fence that has been painted?
Not back to a natural, penetrating-oil finish — once paint is on cedar, it cannot be taken off well enough for oil stain to soak in. The realistic option is to go back over it with a solid stain, sometimes called a film-forming stain. We most often use and recommend Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck or WoodScapes for that. It covers the paint and evens the fence out, but it is a coating that sits on the surface, so expect to maintain it rather than restain it like oil.
