Posts, pickets, and rot first. If the structure is failing, cleaning and staining is money spent on a fence that is already leaving — we’ll tell you, and help you weigh repair or replacement instead.

Dry, then protect
The wood dries fully — timing depends on the weather — and it’s ready for Expert Stain and Seal® oil-based penetrating stain, so the restored color doesn’t gray right back out.

Can a gray cedar fence really come back?
In most cases, yes. Gray is UV oxidation on the surface of the wood, not structural failure. Soft-wash cleaning removes that weathered layer and reveals the bright cedar underneath. If the posts or boards are actually failing, cleaning won’t fix that — and we’ll say so before any work starts.
Do you pressure wash fences?
No. Cedar is a soft wood — high-pressure washing cuts and furs the grain, etches wand lines, and forces water deep into the boards. We use soft-wash chemical cleaning instead: the solution dissolves the gray, and a gentle rinse carries it away.
How soon after cleaning can my fence be stained?
Once the wood has dried fully. We schedule staining around the weather so the oil-based stain penetrates properly instead of sitting on damp wood.
